Capture the flag is a popular outdoor game in which two teams compete to capture each other's flag, usually hidden at the team's base, and return it to their own territory without being tagged by opponents. The term is also used in cybersecurity to describe competitions where participants try to find and exploit vulnerabilities in systems to capture 'flags' (hidden pieces of data).
